5/8" Cove-Cut Tambour

White River Hardwoods · Tambour Collection

5/8″ Cove-Cut Tambour

Solid Wood · Flexible & Solid Backing · Made in the USA

A refined cove-cut profile in solid North American hardwood. The 5/8″ slat width delivers a tighter, more detailed rhythm across walls, cabinetry, and curved surfaces — sanded and ready for your finish.

Proudly Made in the USA from Premium North American Hardwoods

The cove-cut profile adds shadow and dimension to every surface it covers — in solid wood, with a flexible backing that bends wherever the design calls for it.

* Cherry and Alder are exclusively available in the 24″W × 46″L Solid Backing format.

The Profile in Detail

Cove-Cut Profile

The concave cove cut creates a distinct shadow line between each slat, adding depth and visual rhythm that flat-cut tambour simply can't match. The tighter 5/8″ width amplifies this effect across large surfaces.

Flexible Backing

The paper backing bends cleanly around curves, columns, and corners. At 5/8″ slat width × ¼″ thickness, this profile wraps radii that rigid paneling cannot reach.

🌲

7 Species Available

Choose from Red Oak, Paint Grade, Hard Maple, Walnut, White Oak, Cherry, or Alder. Cherry and Alder are available exclusively in the 24″W × 46″L solid backing format.

🎨

Finish Your Way

Apply your chosen stain or paint before or after installation. The cove profile holds stain beautifully in the shadow line, deepening contrast and the three-dimensional effect.

Storage, Handling & Acclimation

Acclimate First — Always

On receipt, store flat in a controlled interior environment. Allow 24–48 hours to acclimate before finishing or installing. This stabilizes moisture content and reduces post-install movement. Before you begin, lightly roll and unroll each panel to flex the backing — hold the rolled position for 5+ seconds, then return flat.

Interior Use Only

Tambour panels are not suitable for wet or high-humidity environments including showers, bathrooms, or pools. Always install in a space with standard room temperature and humidity.

Step by Step

1

Prep the Surface

Wall must be clean, sound, and free of dust, grease, or debris. Apply primer to porous substrates for better adhesion.

2

Dry-Fit First

Always dry-fit before committing adhesive. Install vertically or horizontally — confirm your layout before you spread anything.

3

Apply Adhesive

Use PVA, contact, epoxy, or a quality panel adhesive (e.g., Titebond Fast Grab FRP). Trowel for 80–100% coverage to within ¼″ of edges. With a gun, run beads around the perimeter and horizontal beads every 4–6″.

4

Press & Secure

Apply firm, uniform pressure across the full panel. Use a ¾″ sacrificial board when tapping or hammering. For curved applications, temporary bracing until the glue sets ensures clean contact.

5

Leave Micro-Gaps

Leave a hairline gap between adjacent panels — roughly two stacked business cards — to accommodate natural wood movement over time.

6

Clean Up

Clean any adhesive squeeze-out immediately to avoid residue on slat faces.

Pro Tips

Pre-Stretch Inward

Before attaching, roll the panel inward to stretch the backing. This makes it more compliant and easier to handle, especially on curved surfaces.

Flex Outward with Intent

Follow up by flexing outward firmly to fully stretch the paper backing. A properly stretched panel lays flatter and adheres more evenly.

No Cabinets Through Tambour

Never mount cabinets or furniture through the panel into the wall. Wood movement can cause buckling and will void the warranty.

13% Trade Discount for Design Professionals

Architects, interior designers, and contractors qualify for White River's trade discount on tambour panels. Volume pricing available for larger orders — contact your rep for a quote.

Apply for Trade Access

Warranty Reminder

Warranty may be voided if panels are installed in high-moisture environments, or if cabinetry or furniture is mounted through the tambour panel into the wall. Always follow adhesive manufacturer's instructions and allow full acclimation prior to installation.
